Slightly Unhinged

This week has been...a major pleasure(sarcasm). Somehow I only have 6 hours left before I go into over time, technically 5.5 hours. Clinic is 7 hours today. Hopefully patients will come in early or something. Overtime has been a hot topic at work for many people. I prefer never hitting overtime unless I volunteer on a Saturday. Even then, I try to stay within allotted time.

We are down two teammates, so we have had floaters. It's just Tasha and I on the actual team. She is doing the scribing. And I am balancing working up patients, the stat phone and rooming patients. She and I are a well oiled team, slower than how Doc likes but we getting it done. Cannot wait for Shivani and Charrise to be back on Monday.

This whole week patients have said the most left field things to me. I don't know if its the universe testing me or what. But some of the things said definitely makes me want to refer them to go get some help.

I also looked more "unkept" than usual. Per a patient who is in once a week for follow ups. Unkept meaning I didn't straighten my hair, so it was waving and had a few uneven curling, as well as frizzy parts because I forgot leave in conditioner.

Not all bad though. I was complimented multiple times about my patience, attitude(because some of the patients have a dark sense of humor which is always fun to match), as well as overly explaining what I am doing.

Favorite thing that a patient told me this week: "Better slow down there, you're going to start a fire with how fast you type." Context, I asked all the questions HPI stuff, while I wiped/cleaned the slit lamp, near vision card and occluder then typed everything in their chart as I had them confirmed PCP and pharmacy, so by then we can jump right into the actual testing. Older sweet patients are fun, more so when they are excited to see me type while staring at them as we talk about their problems or about random stuff.

Anyways woke up early due to nightmare and body cramps. Thank goodness it is Friday. Going to snooze for 2 hours before making breakfast since we work through lunch on Fridays.(Though I haven't eaten lunch in over 3 weeks.)
